February is Black History Month, and in celebration the Effectrix Club is dedicating the month of February to exposing our community to the works of African American poets, photographers, painters, and other artists. This painting is “To My Momma” by Sophia Dawson, a contemporary, Brooklyn-based artist. She painted this as an ode to her mother's strength against racial oppression.
